All That Games - "Free Mox Opal cEDH Event" – Tournament Recap

This past weekend, All That Games hosted another incredible community event …"The Free Mox Opal cEDH Tournament", featuring over 80 players from across Michigan and surrounding Midwest states. The store was packed wall-to-wall with some of the most passionate and competitive Commander players around, all chasing the chance to bring home one of four Mox Opals as prizes. Some came from as far as Europe and Russia even!

Event Overview

The tournament ran five rounds of Swiss before cutting to Top 16, followed by an elimination bracket that pushed the finals past 10:00 PM. Despite the long day …and one of the two A/C units deciding to take the day off… the community’s energy never dipped. Players stayed cool under pressure (well, as much as possible) and powered through to the very end.

Event organizer and store owner Travis Steinbrink made sure everyone left with something extra …handing out three Spider-Man booster packs to Top 16 players, or $15 in store credit for those who preferred it. It was a classy touch that perfectly reflected the friendly and rewarding spirit of the All That Games community.

Community Spirit

Even with the heat, the vibe was awesome. Tables were filled with laughter, strategy talk, and sportsmanship that defines the All That Games community. Shoutouts to everyone who stuck it out all day and helped make the event such a huge success. It was proof that when you mix good people with good games, you get great memories.

Top 4 Winners

The final table was stacked with powerhouse players and iconic Commanders. Each competitor showcased both skill and sportsmanship throughout the day, ultimately deciding to split the final round for prizing (Each got a Mox Opal!)

Personal Reflection

I piloted Grist, the Hunger Tide again this time around …and while my record didn’t make waves like last time I played, (where I topped 4 with the Planeswalker at the last CEDH event "Making Golgari Great Again")  I did manage to draw one game and learned a ton from the experience. That’s the beauty of Magic: the Gathering; even when the results don’t go your way, the day is full of lessons, interactions, and moments worth remembering.

Looking Ahead

This event sets the tone for what’s next at All That Games …. bigger events, stronger community ties, and more opportunities to play the game we all love. Whether you’re a seasoned cEDH grinder or a casual Commander fan, there’s always a seat at the table here.

Don’t forget to join us for our next event coming up as seen in the previous article - Pauper Commander Free Event: https://resmustangmtg.blogspot.com/2025/09/from-little-acorns-to-mighty-oaks.html

Resmustang has played Magic since 2001, specializing in Commander and community building. He's an accomplished EDH writer, podcaster, and the creator of the Jumanji Format, a chaotic twist on EDH.

Commander didn't just become his favorite format-it helped save his life during a dark time. That experience fuels his passion to create games that connect people, not just win them. For him, the best games aren't about power level-they're about the people you share them with.

Resmustang supports EDH, cEDH, budget cEDH, MTGA 100 Card Brawl and Pauper EDH, always brewing, building, and mentoring others.

His signature deck is Meren of Clan Nel Toth, played as a high-powered, non-infinite build. His favorite card: Spore Frog!
